Mount Robson Provincial Park

Mount Robson

Mount Robson is the highest peak in the Canadian Rocky Mountains

Mount Robson Provincial Park was established in 1913 and is truly one of the worlds crown jewels and a world heritage site. It is the second oldest Park in British Columbia. Mt Robson Provincial Park is located right next to world known Jasper National Park, which is situated to the east. Mount Robson after which the Park was named guards the Parks entrance to the west. At 3954 meters (12900 feet) Mount Robson is the highest peak in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, towers over the surrounding peaks. Mt Robson is one of the most impressive sights in British Columbia. It is located close to the communities of Tete Jaune Cache and Valemount. The park has a total size of 224.866 hectares.

No matter if you are visiting our cabins during the summer or the winter, Mt Robson offers activities all year around. Mount Robson Provincial Park protects a unique flora and fauna, typical of the western Rocky Mountains. It also protects the headwaters of the mighty Fraser River which features an important eco system, home to the Chinook salmon which return to their spawning grounds every year, starting the middle of August until the middle of September.

While visiting Mount Robson you can experience three different vegetation zones and an abundance of wildlife like black bears, moose, elk, grizzly bears, whitetail deer, mountain sheep and mountain goats. You can find over 183 different species of birds in Mt Robson Provincial Park. Local first nations called it “Yuh-hai-has-hun”, the mountain of the spiral road.

The Mount Robson Info center is located at the base of Mt Robson and is open for visitors from May until the middle of October. The hiking trail up to Kinney Lake and the Berg Lake trail is a short 2 minutes drive away.
